A Tale of Two Coffee Houses

I visited two coffee houses tonight and had a completely different experience at each. First I stopped at Big E’s Sweets and Gourmet Coffee for Poetry Night. I didn’t find any poetry but I did find a comfortable coffee house. It felt much more like someones living room than a restaurant. It had a couple of chess boards setup, plenty of reading material, ranging from The Tao of Pooh to The Devil Wears Prada and some very comfortable couches. I also fell into an interesting conversation about parapsychology and Annuit Coeptis. A gentlemen tried to explain to me why it was important that I know that Annuit Coeptis was written on the U.S. Dollar bill. I completely failed to grasp what he was trying to say, mostly because he kept answering my questions with other questions. Maybe I’ll get a better explanation next time I stop by.
After that I headed over to Metro Coffee & Wine. A very nice coffee and wine bar that I’ve visited many times. This time Al Fuller was playing some blues. It was a great way to end the night, listening to blues and drinking my glass of wine. I have to thank the ladies over at Sarasota After Dark for this evening. If it wasn’t for their website I wouldn’t have gone looking for poetry or known that blues were playing.

Beer runs and Inheritance

We had a little party for a friend of ours that is expecting his first child. Me and Cassidy got sent out for a beer run. Cassidy got a wild hair up his ass and see if you can pick out the item that isn’t usually acquired during a beer run.

On another note my wife finally got her inheritance, no her parents haven’t died but they did decide to get rid of their VHS collection. 140+ VHS tapes have just found their way to my house. I have no idea what we are going to do with these. My wife spent a lot of time as a child watching movies. Every Christmas/birthday 5-10 new movies would enter the house. She is intent on reliving the childhood by watching such classic as “Short Circuit”, “Batteries Not Included”, “Fievel Goes to America”, and many more. To be honest I’m happy to get my hands on some of her Dad’s old favorites, “Commando”, “First Blood”, “Best of the Best”, and a half dozen Clint Eastwood westerns.
